Gabriel Jesus’ hat-trick sent Arsenal into the semi-finals of the English League Cup.
Gabriel Jesus scored a hat-trick as Arsenal beat Crystal Palace 3-2 to progress to the semi-finals of the League Cup on Wednesday.
Video footage showed the night’s hero was offside before finishing to make it 2-1 in the 73rd minute at the Emirates Stadium.
However, the VAR review will only come into play during the league cup semi-finals.
The Brazilian striker had tied the game at 1-1 in the 54th minute before the goal. Gabriel Jesus’ hat trick was sealed in the 81st minute.
Former Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah reduced the numbers to 2-3 five minutes before the end, but Palace’s spirit was no longer enough to equalize.
Jesus had previously scored only one goal in the 20 matches he played in all competitions this season. Seki’s complete hit came in the English League Cup, when Arsenal played in the 2nd round in October against Preston.
The two-time winner of the League Cup, Arsenal, advanced to the semi-finals last time in the 2021–22 season.
Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta had made eight player changes since last weekend’s goalless draw at Everton. However, the Gunners needed to go on the field in the second half as well by Martin Ödegaard that Bukayo Sakan.
In the other two quarter-finals on Wednesday, Newcastle beat Brentford 3–1 and Liverpool beat Southampton 2–1. On Thursday, Tottenham host Manchester United in the last quarter-final.
