Arpi and Bodström disagree about condemnation – with reference to the constitution

According to Ivar Arpi, an opinion leader with his own platform “Rak höger”, the government is expressing both a desire to have freedom of expression and not wanting it at the same time.

– Then you start thumbing your nose at the constitution, he says.

Thomas Bodström, former Social Democratic Minister of Justice, also refers to Sweden’s constitution and says that the government must counteract all forms of violations and discrimination according to the form of government.

– It clearly states that they must be active in these matters, he says and wonders if the government should not react even more strongly.

In addition, he believes that the government and authorities are obliged to prevent crime.

– Since we know that this can increase the risk of terrorist attacks against embassies abroad, they simply have to act.

Arpi: Internalize the taboo

But according to Ivar Arpi, the result is instead that the government reviews an individual’s use of the freedoms and rights protected by the constitutions.

– Should we internalize another religion’s taboo so much that it trumps Swedish law? Asking him.
