Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone were bitter rivals for many years. That’s why the Terminator actor once tricked the other action hero into making a lousy movie on him.
On the American talk show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Arnold Schwarzenegger was asked in an October 2019 program if it was true that he tricked Sylvester Stallone in order to sell him a bad movie.
The actor admitted he actually set a little trap for his then-rival to get him a bad film project called Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot and laughingly tells the story.
Here you can see a trailer for Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot with Sylvester Stallone:
“Who has more muscle, who has more success at the box office?”
The Terminator actor then explains that there was a big rivalry between the two action stars in the 80s. They put up a real competition for the best projects:
It was all about who makes bigger movies. Who has more muscles, who has more success at the box office? Who Kills More People? Who kills people more creatively? Who has bigger knives? Who has the bigger guns?
And I started running around with helicopter-only machine guns, which were usually helicopter- or tank-mounted. It was crazy, it was total war.

Arnold Schwarzenegger got the project Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot offered. However, when he read the script, he quickly realized how bad it was and had absolutely no interest in the role.
However, he wanted his rival to accept the film. Sylvester Stallone, also known as Sly, contacted Schwarzenegger and asked if he knew about the film. The Terminator then replied that he was considering taking on the role and that the film was a great idea.
Here’s the full YouTube clip of Arnold Schwarzenegger telling the story. For this, fast forward to Timestamp 6:48:
“When he heard about our competition, he immediately called and said: ‘No matter what it costs, I’ll do the film,'” says Schwarzenegger with a laugh. “So he made the film. And, of course, the film went horribly wrong.”
However, the rivalry between the two action stars is now a thing of the past and the two are even friends.
This was also reflected in the words with which Arnold Schwarzenegger praised another action star:
