Arnaud Assoumani is a Paralympic long jump champion.
Arnaud Assoumani is a Paralympic athlete, born on September 4, 1985 in Orsay and of Comorian origin. A long jump specialist, he came 8th at the Tokyo Paralympic Games, but above all won the gold medal in Beijing. “At the age of 5, when I was watching the World Athletics Championships on TV, I fell in love with the long jump and the athletes who, for me, were flying through the air. I wanted to fly too! I went to see my father and told him “one day I’ll do the Olympic Games”. Apparently this dream has never left me! The performance I’m aiming for, place, or more generally. To pass the 8m mark and end my career in Paris with, ideally, a medal around my neck.” At the same time, he studied at the Institut d’études politiques de Paris and then at EICAR, a film school where he obtained a BTS in editing. His handicap, “his engine” as he prefers to call it, is from birth, since he was born without a left forearm.
