After Armenia’s only synagogue was vandalized in an arson attack, an investigation has been launched, the country’s authorities announced on Thursday.
Video clips on social media show a person pouring fuel on the door of the synagogue in the country’s capital, Yerevan, which has a small Jewish population.
According to Rima Varzhapetyan, a representative of the Jewish population of the country, the synagogue was not seriously damaged, and no one was in the building when the deed took place.
– We are horrified because Jews have never had any problems in Armenia, she says.
The number of anti-Semitic acts has increased in many parts of the world since October 7, when the terror-labeled Hamas carried out an attack on Israel, which led to the outbreak of war between Hamas and Israel.
