Armenia appeals to the United Nations for an effort to guarantee the safety of ethnic Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh following the Azeri military offensive in the disputed breakaway region.

Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzojan asked for an effort to “monitor human rights and the humanitarian and security situation on the ground”.

Azerbaijan’s foreign minister said at the UN that ethnic Armenians from the breakaway region will be treated “as equal citizens”.
