A man armed with a firearm robbed a business on Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation in the early morning hours on Thursday.

At just before 3 am, the man brandished a firearm after approaching a window at a business on King Street, W., Haldimand OPP said in a media release.

He received a quantity of cash and cigarettes before fleeing from the area.

There were no injuries, said police.

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team searched for the suspect, but were unsuccessful.

The suspect is described as being in his 30s, about 6-foot-3-inches in height with a medium skin complexion and average build. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a dark Carhartt hooded sweater with the hood up, dark pants and reddish running shoes. A bandana covered the lower portion of his face.

Police are continuing to investigate and have turned to the public for assistance.

Anyone in the area at the time of the robbery with dashcams or security cameras is asked to check their footage for any suspicious activity. Those with information are asked to contact the Haldimand County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
