Armed person entered LKAB’s test drilling

It was during the night of Thursday 5 September that a masked person, who allegedly appeared to be carrying a firearm, broke into a drilling machine.

No one was injured, but all work at the site has been temporarily suspended.

Investigated as a serious weapons offence

The incident has been reported to the police and the security police, Säpo, which is already involved in another case from last Friday. Then four drilling machines in the same area were exposed to vandalism.

– We are aware of these two incidents, but it is the Police Authority that is currently investigating, says Fredrik Hultgren Friberg, press spokesperson at Säpo.

The police are investigating the incident as a serious armed crime. Whether there is any connection to the vandalism that was reported at the end of last week is still unclear.

There are currently no suspects in the case.
