Armand Duplanti’s unexpected detail after the new world record – a clear response to Jakob Ingebrigtsen’s actions: “It’s absolutely incomparable!”

We have long known that Armand Duplantis is completely unique.
But now the unexpected detail behind the new world record is revealed.
Namely the Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen who sparked something within “Mondo”.

When you didn’t think so Armand Duplantis could impress more he goes and makes this incredible. With another world record just a few weeks after the total Olympic discharge.

Duplanti’s feat

During the summer Olympics in Paris, “Mondo” wrote unforgettable sports history with both Olympic gold and a new world record with 6.25 meters during one and the same magical evening. Since then, he has been celebrating the success and enjoying a much-needed vacation.

The article continues below.

And this weekend it was time again during the Diamond League gala in Chorzow, Poland. Although it should not be possible to change so quickly, Duplantis exceeds expectations once again and managed to break a new world record with 6.26 meters.
– I became a bit puffy. But at the same time, the jump itself was a very nice jump and what he does so skillfully is that he is so good at navigating where he is in the approach run. He is so unbelievably cool with bringing this momentum to the whole jump and that he has the patience to lie and wait for the pole to do its job. He finds the perfect cool all the time and it’s very impressive, says the TV expert Alhaji Jeng in SVT about the achievement.
– I thought it would be a bit soupy, physically and above all mentally, after the Olympics. But here he shows the kind of patience that is so incredibly decisive and that is above all what makes it so impressive.

Norwegian action

A new world record so short before the Olympics, the former pole vaulter didn’t think was possible at all.
– As far as Mondo is concerned, you can never stop being surprised. But one might think that there should be external factors in the form of an extreme mental charge for a longer period of time for the Olympics, then he goes on holiday and has barely pole vaulted – and then breaking a world record. It is astonishing, he tells the television channel.

Now an unexpected detail is also pointed out, which is behind Duplanti’s new success with a world record again. Namely the Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen’s action earlier that day, when he also broke the world record in the 3,000 meters in Poland.
– I actually think it’s because the gala organizer had made a small scoreboard where you compete against each other in the respective branches. I can imagine that he is a competitive person of rank, because you don’t break world records on an assembly line if you are not. When Jakob Ingebrigtsen breaks the world record, then Mondo probably thinks: “Hmm, I probably have to break the world record to become the best athlete of the gala this evening,” says Jeng in the interview.
– And as he does it. It is absolutely incomparable!
