If you are by far the best in the world at something, it should show in your wallet. Armand Duplantis crushed all opposition this season and brought in many millions of kroner. Soon everyone in the whole world will know who he is.
– He gets paid handsomely just to come and show off, says manager Daniel Wessfeldt to Sportbladet.
EC gold, Olympic gold, Diamond League victory, Olympic record and a whole three world records(!). Armand Duplantis24, has been at an absolutely inhuman level this season and he has really put Sweden on the map thanks to his huge success.
It’s not just purely sporting, things have been great for “Mondo” this year. Medals and trophies in all glory. If you are a hard-working elite athlete, you would like to see it in your bank account as well. In this record summer, Duplantis has made more money than ever. Perhaps not so unexpected considering what he has achieved.
That’s how much “Mondo” gets for each competition
According to Armand Duplanti’s manager Daniel Wessfeldt the pole vaulter earns “without exaggeration” at least one million per Diamond League competition. No athlete has come close to those sick totals since Usain Bolt was in the form of his life and broke world records in the 100m and 200m.
– And that is entirely his own merit. He is the one who created this by delivering at every competition. Just look at the Diamond League final here in Brussels where he steps in and jumps 6.11 in twelve degrees. The best result in the entire competition, says Wessfeldt to Sportbladet.
The Swedish-American has always been popular, but the fascination for the world’s best ever pole vaulter has only grown even greater after this summer’s feat in Paris. Armand Duplantis is the name on everyone’s lips.
– Yes, he has gone through the roof and reached a level where people who don’t even care about sports know who he is. There are requests and invitations from all sides. Among other things, the football gala Ballon d’or wanted him as a guest. And several other events, where he gets paid handsomely just to come and show off. Then we have sponsors who have shown interest and that’s what we get to sit down and watch now that he’s finished competing. And for next season, pretty much all the organizers already want him to come, says Wessfeldt.
“Mondo” loves to compete
Of course, he is still in the dark when compared to Bolt, who could get up to 2.5 million just to show up in a competition. But the fact is that no other athlete in the world earns as much money as “Mondo” does right now. One million kroner is a solid sum.
– Yes, but it seems that everyone has that money nowadays, even though there may be some competition that doesn’t have those resources, but where “Mondo” still wants to compete. But a sprinter like Usain Bolt was unique and it is difficult to compete there. But he didn’t compete that often, while “Mondo” likes to compete. It’s a hell of a difference, says Daniel Wessfeldt.

There is no exact amount for what Duplantis earns this year. But in addition to the EC and Olympics, he has competed in nine outdoor competitions this season. There alone he has almost ten million kroner. Then there is prize money in the Diamond League and in the major championships, as well as appearance fees (money that goes to great athletes just because they show up) as well as from sponsors and advertising.
Yes, “Mondo” is truly unique and deserves the best. If you deliver at that level, I think you are worth a monstrous sum. He does so much for Swedish sports and is an incredible representative of our country.
Hi Armand! Hope for at least as good a summer next year.
