Armand Duplantis strikes back against his own dad Greg Duplantis

Armand Duplantis had an absolutely fantastic 2024.
“Mondo” has also got a dream start on the new 2025.
But now the Swedish world star beats back against his dad Greg Duplantis.

It was an absolutely incredible 2024 with Olympic gold and world record the same evening as the big highlight. Now the world star has Armand Duplantis Got a real dream start on the New Year 2025 as well.

Greg Duplanti’s words

Already in the season premiere, “Mondo” managed 6.10 meters and in the competition afterwards it became a new world record with 6.27 meters. But still the dad and the coach Greg Duplantis Not satisfied with the son’s efforts this year.

Dad Duplantis tells us that the son has trained a lot on sprint training during the winter and therefore jumped the less. On Thursday evening, its own competition “Mondo Classic” awaits in Uppsala and a new opportunity for a world record.
– He has been very rusty and sloppy with the technology in his jumps. I think it will be better here in Uppsala though, says Greg in the interview.
– He runs extremely well and is very fast. But he does not position himself right for the rise and what I saw in France almost scares me. But I’ve told him. Then it is, most of what he does right now is positive – he has set a world record after all. But as a father and coach, I have to be worried.

Mondo strikes back

Armand Duplantis is surprised when he hears his father’s harsh words about him. The world’s best pole jumpers then strike back against their own dad.
– Wow … he’s a tough critic. The jumps were not perfect in any way, but they felt okay, Mondo tells the evening newspaper.
– It may be a positive thing, because if the jumps are so bad that he feels worried then there are lots of jobs to do to push me even higher this year.

The big dream is so clear to beat a new world record on Swedish soil tonight. For despite eleven world records with his name, Duplantis has not yet set a record for Swedish audiences.
