Armand Duplanti’s statement about the Norwegian superstar – now confirms what everyone longed for: “It’s going to be fun”

Armand Duplantis is the best pole vaulter of all time.
Now he confirms that it will be a duel in the wrong discipline – with one of athletics’ biggest stars.
– We want to do it at a real competition, says Mondo.

Armand Duplantis is currently preparing hard for one of the highlights of his career. In less than two months, it’s time for Mondo to compete in the Paris Olympics, and to say he’s the favorite would be an understatement.

Confirming now

Duplantis has won pretty much every event he’s entered in the past few years, and he’s already set a world record this season. But right after the Olympics, where the hope is new records and above all a new Olympic gold, Mondo changes its focus completely.

There has long been talk of a duel between Duplantis and the Norwegian running sensation Karsten Warholm. The Norwegian holds the world record in the 400m hurdles, and Mondo has suggested he can give Warholm a match in the 100m. Now Mondo confirms that the duel, by all accounts, will happen.

– After the Olympics. It’s not official, but I’m trying to solve it and it will be solved soon. He wants to do it and I also want to do it, says Duplantis in the Sporthuset podcast, according to SVT.

“It’s going to be fun”

Duplantis is also clear that he wants the duel to take place in a larger competition.

– We want to do it in a real competition. Maybe before or after one of the closing Diamond League galas. It will be great fun for both of us, he says.

Mondo also has other, grandiose plans when it comes to running. Duplantis believes that he, along with other stars, is eager to break a Swedish record in the relay.

– I’m thinking about the relay and breaking the Swedish record there with Henrik (Larsson) and Isak (Hughes). I think I could do a good stretch, says Duplantis, who also points out the perfect moment for the record attempt:

– In front of the Swedish crowd at Finnkampen at the Stockholm stadium would have been the best timing.
