Armand Duplantis broke a new record this weekend. There were probably many who missed it, and it wasn’t close to any of his many world records or outdoor records, but all the same, it was new history the Swede wrote.

This weekend, the team SC in athletics was decided, and Armand Duplantis stood up for the team Upsala IF. Unsurprisingly, Armand Duplantis played home the competition when he jumped 5.71. The runner-up in the competition, Örgryte IS’s William Asker, jumped 5.16.
Duplantis didn’t come close to breaking his year’s best, but he did what it took to win the event – and the fact is that Duplantis broke a new event record, despite not being anywhere near his normal heights. But now Duplantis is also being celebrated for what he did outside his own competition. During the competition in Sollentuna, Duplanti’s little sister Johanna, born in 2002, also took part.

Praised by sister
She also competed for Upsala IF, and then Armand Duplantis, together with mother Helena, stepped into a leadership role, where he gave tips and advice to his sister. In a report made by SVT, you can hear, among other things, how the sister consults Mondo whether she should stand above a height, and how she should lay out the strategy in the competition. Johanna Duplantis ended up sixth in the competition, with a height of 3.38.
Afterwards, she praised Mondo Duplantis for the way he helped her during the competition.
– He is really a great help. He still has the world record… He is always there for me when I need it, and whatever I ask him. He always stands up for me. He is very good.
