Armand Duplantis left Idrottsgalan on Monday evening completely unlucky.
And one who did not vote for him in the Jerring Prize was, somewhat unexpectedly, his girlfriend Desiré Inglander.
– I missed it, she tells Aftonbladet.
The supreme and dominant pole vault star Armand “Mondo” Duplantis took home the prestigious Jerring Prize in 2020, and on Monday evening the 23-year-old had the chance to take home the prize again when this year’s edition of the Sports Gala took place.
“Missed it”
Duplantis has an extraordinary year behind him where he broke several world records, for example, and everyone remembers his jump during the Athletics World Championships this summer when the Swede flew over the record height of 6.21. With his incomparable achievements, it was therefore entirely reasonable that “Mondo” was among the favorites to take home the Jerring prize a second time.

– You are fantastic, but everyone here is fantastic in their own way. You never know. You’ve been lucky enough to win before and that alone is cool, says the girlfriend Desire Inglander ahead of the evening’s gala according to Aftonbladet.

But did she vote for her boyfriend then? In fact, the answer is no.
– Nope, I missed this!, she says to the evening newspaper, while Armand Duplantis himself takes on part of the responsibility.
– I don’t usually tell her that. It is the Swedish people who vote for whoever they want to win. I don’t want to force her to do anything, it’s the people who will vote.
Knocked out
This year, it was not enough for Armand Duplantis in the voting to take home the Jerring Prize, as he fell out in the penultimate round. Vann instead made the skating king Nils van der Poelwho became the big winner of the gala after he took home several desirable awards.
