The debut artist “Mondo” may endure more negative comments than pole jump star Armand Duplantis.
-You open up for criticism in a completely different way than I am used to, says the 25-year-old who dreams of a world record in Sweden in Thursday’s own gala in Uppsala.
Armand Duplantis25, is surprised at how much reactions the debut single “Bop”, which was released a couple of weeks ago, created.
– My phone “Blew up”. It has been a lot of fun. It is a very vigilant thing to do, says the reigning Olympic champion and world record holder.
Armand has received some criticism
It is something new for him to suddenly be assessed on the basis of a parameter other than that he is only the world’s best high jumper.
– You open up for criticism in a completely different way than I’m used to. For everyone will not love the music. That’s how it is with music. Everyone doesn’t have to love it either. But it’s not so easy to talk shit about how I jump rod. Because it’s pretty black or white: I’m very good at pole jump.
GUIDE: Here’s all you need to know about the champions champion 2025
How many negative comments have you received?
– Not so much. Not so I should complain. But it will be more than when I jump, it is to a hundred percent, much more. But it’s not that I’m sorry or to complain.
Duplantis sings about Desiré Inglander
The song is not Sam Kendrickswho is seven years older than Duplantis, kind of music. But he thinks it is telling how “Mondo” is.
– It’s nice music. Good for party, good for taking it easy. A little romance. I think “des” appreciates it more than anyone else. When I hear the song, I think he sings about her, summer evenings in Sweden and such things. It’s something good and that’s how music should be, says the American.

Armand Duplantis admits that the song is about fiancee Desiré Inglander23.
– Of course, from my perspective it is about “Dessie”. But it’s also just a song. The song is not that deep, it’s more Vibes. It’s “Bop”.
Armand Duplanti’s big dream
Helena Duplantismom and coach, think the music can give distance to the pole jumping.
– It’s a good thing for him. He loves to just relax and do something else. I’m just glad it’s not a crazy sport that some others are doing: speedway, motorcycles and such stuff so you get hurt, she says.
On Thursday evening, “Mondo” chases the height of 6.28 meters and the career’s twelfth world record in its own pole jump gala in Uppsala. The Swedish-American has so far never set a world record on Swedish soil.
– I think it’s the only award missing right now. My biggest dream is to jump world record here in Sweden. We keep our thumbs, he says.
Good luck with the hunt for new world records – and in your new artist career. If anyone is able to perform in both worlds, it is you, Armand. You are so damn good!
