Armand Duplantis won the Diamond League event in Poland – but was unhappy with his 6.13 attempts.
Then he blamed Sweden(!).
– I’m not used to it, he says.
Armand Duplantis continues to win competitions on a continuous basis. The pole vault star is the most dominant athlete in all of athletics, and when the Diamond League competition was held in Poland on Sunday, it was, unsurprisingly, a new first place.
Won again
Armand Duplanti’s last competition was the one at Stockholm Stadium, where it rained which made the competition enormously difficult. Duplantis was unable to make a world record attempt, but in Poland there were high temperatures, and hopes for really, really high altitudes.
But it was “only” a comfortable victory for Duplantis. He won the event in 6.01, after three missed attempts at a world best and 6.13.
– It was still a pretty good competition. Error free until 6.01. I was hoping to make better attempts at 6.13, but today it didn’t work, says Duplantis in C More.

Blames Sweden
But there was an explanation from Mondo why he didn’t manage to get higher; the heat in Poland.
– I like to jump when it’s hot, but it gets a bit tough too, because at the end I’m left alone in the competition and only have five minutes between jumps. Actually, you need more time to rest and cool down, he says.
Duplantis otherwise grew up in a warm part of the United States. But afterwards, somewhat jokingly, he blamed his lack of familiarity with the heat in Sweden.
– Maybe I’ve been in Sweden too much, hehe. Because now I’m not used to the kind of weather we had here today.
