Armand Duplanti’s controversial gesture towards girlfriend Desiré Inglander after the great criticism during the summer Olympics

Armand Duplantis became a big blue-yellow hero in the Olympics.
“Mondo” won both Olympic gold and broke world records.
But now a gesture towards his girlfriend Desiré has been widely reported.

The 2024 Summer Olympics became another fantastic chapter in the great success story of Armand Duplantis. The Swedish world star has dominated pole vaulting for several years now, winning gold medals on a regular basis and breaking world records on a continuous basis.

Mondo’s Olympic gold

The Olympics in Paris were no exception as “Mondo” won the Olympic gold without any particular opposition. Then he raised the bar to 6.25 meters and set a new world record, sending 80,000 spectators at the Stade de France into a state of euphoria.

Immediately after the world record, the 24-year-old ran straight to his girlfriend and great love Desire Inglander for a kiss of victory before the eyes of the whole world. Duplantis then left Paris as a celebrated blue-yellow hero and went with Desiré on a luxury holiday in Greece.

Gesture towards Desiré

The couple has shared several photos and videos from their holiday together. Among other things, a video on Tik Tok where Armand hangs his Olympic gold medal around his girlfriend’s neck, a fairly harmless gesture but which has attracted enormous criticism elsewhere.

American Olympic giant Simone Biles did the same and hung the gold medal around his partner’s neck Jonathan Owenswhich was met with many nasty attacks on social media. Because people thought Biles’ performance in the Olympics was instead about an exercise of power by the boyfriend.
– The sick thing is that I hung my medal on all my family members and took pictures. So never make unfounded assumptions, says Biles according to the English newspaper Daily Mail.
– Leave us alone!, she urged all critics.

Duplantis and Inglander have not been met with the same harsh criticism after the gesture with the gold medal, but instead have been showered with love and tributes. Desiré was also careful to write the words “it’s not mine, I know” along with the video clip, see it below.
