Armand Duplanti’s clear criticism of his own sport(!) – the Swede has now had enough

Armand Duplantis seems to have had enough.
Now the Swedish world star wants to change his own sport.
– It is time to do something, says “Mondo” in an interview with SportExpressen.

He is the brightest star in the entire sport and has changed the pole vault forever. But now seems Swedish Armand Duplantis have had enough of their own sport and now want to change it completely.

Duplanti’s words

It was the athletics legend Michael Johnson which started the debate that athletics today is far too slow and risks losing interest if nothing drastic happens. Above all, the American wanted all jumping and throwing exercises to be only 15 minutes long.
– That was one of the stupidest things I’ve heard, answered the Norwegian pole vaulter Pål Haugen Lillefosse irritated for NRK.

Duplanti’s first reaction was also very skeptical, but when the 23-year-old has had to think a bit, he has changed his attitude.
– I think it is time to do something, says “Mondo” in an interview with SportExpressen.

Mondo’s proposal

But the Swedish world star strongly opposes the proposal for competitions of just 15 minutes. Instead, Duplantis is launching a proposal of his own to remake the pole vault entirely – namely to invite fewer jumpers to the competitions and for higher elevations.
– I believe in that. The thing is, when the heights are more difficult, everyone jumps a little better too. Everyone thinks that the jumpers will be scared because it is such a big increase. But every time there is an aggressive raising schedule, it feels like everyone is on their toes. It’s a bit like “swim or drown”, says Mondo to the evening newspaper.

American pole vaulter Chris Nilsen do not buy either Johnson’s or Duplanti’s proposal at all, but want to continue to have the competitions exactly as usual. With the justification that “it destroys everything to shorten. If the television audience wants to watch athletics, they will”.
– I understand what he means, but you can decide which heights we will jump to. It could go 45 minutes faster and you won’t miss anything, answers Armand Duplantis and still firmly believes in his proposal to change the sport of pole vaulting.
