Swedish star Armand Duplantis set new ME readings for the sixth time when he exceeded the height of 622 in the indoor competition organized by Renaud Lavillenie.
Dominating the pole vault in its lofty solitude Armand Duplantis raised the world record readings to new readings again. The Swedish Duplantis improved the ME result in his own name by one centimeter and exceeded the height of 622.
A new record was set on Saturday night by a pole vaulter Renaud Lavillenien in an indoor competition in Clermont-Ferrand, France. Duplantis secured the victory of the competition by crossing 601 and then raised the bar to the world record numbers. Height 622 was crossed on the third attempt.
– It means a lot and even more that I was able to do this on Renaud’s home field. It’s hard to explain how much he means to me, so breaking the world record on his home turf feels almost surreal, commented Duplantis In an interview with SVT (you switch to another service).
Lavillenie was the first to run to congratulate Duplant for breaking the new record height. The two jumped and hugged happily on the mattress. French jumper Lavillenie will miss the current indoor season due to a thigh injury.

The deep relationship between the two Olympic champions is manifested by the support and encouragement given by the 36-year-old Lavillenie. When Duplantis at the age of 17 started touring the same competitions, Lavillenie encouraged and helped the young Swede.
– I know how difficult it is for him not to compete. He wanted so badly for me to break the world record and when I did, we shared a really special moment together, 23-year-old Duplantis said.
The previous world record was set when the Swedish star surpassed 621 at the World Championships in Oregon last summer. Duplantis has made six consecutive ME earnings since 2020.
The 23-year-old Duplantis has cleared six meters or more in his career a total of 60 times. He said in an interview with SVT that the best jump of his career has yet to be seen. Duplantis will not participate in next week’s EC Indoor Championships.
The EC indoor medals will be competed for on March 2–5. In Istanbul, shows the European Championship on its channels.
