Armand Duplantis broke the world record in his opener of

Armand Duplantis jumped only four times in his opening competition of the outdoor track season in China. He improved the world record without a single fall in the entire race.

Swedish Armand Duplantis, 24, finished his outdoor season convincingly in the Diamond League competition in Xiamen, China. He improved his pole vault world record by one centimeter to 624.

Duplantis surpassed ME on the first try. He also managed the previous heights of 562, 582 and 600 without falling.

The United States finished second in the competition Sam Kendrickswhich ended up with a score of 582. He dropped three times from six meters, after which Duplantis raised the bar to world record numbers.

Swedish-American Duplantis is the reigning Olympic champion and two-time world and European outdoor champion. At the beginning of March, he won the indoor WC gold with a score of 605, which was his best of the season before the opening of the outdoor track season in China.

– The hall season was not quite what I wanted, and it gave me more spark for this race. The conditions were optimal, there was no wind and therefore crossing 624 was possible today. I’m really satisfied, I can’t complain, Duplantis smiled after the race.

“Mondo” is very familiar with jumping world records, as 624 is already the eighth ME of his career. He jumped his first ME result of 617 in the hall in February 2020, after which he has improved the readings centimeter by centimeter.

He broke his previous world record of 623 in Eugene, USA, in the Diamond League finals in September. Eugene’s Diamond League is Duplantis’ previous competition on outdoor tracks.

Tonnivitose is one second away from ME

Ethiopian Gudaf Tsegay wowed at the opening of the athletics Diamond League season in China in 1,500 meters with a time of 3:50.30, which is just over a second behind By Faith Kipyegon from the world record in the name. The competition was Tsegay’s first of the season on outdoor tracks.
