Armand Duplantis did it again.
And won WC gold for the second straight time.
Now “Mondo” can laugh all the way to the bank.

There was a great display of Armand Duplantis on Saturday night when he once again showed the whole world what a great athlete he is. The 23-year-old put on a show in the pole vault final and won WC gold without breaking even once.

After the WC gold was secured, the new world champion raised the bar to a new world record height of 6.23 meters. Mondo thus defied both his own pain and his father Greg Duplantis pleading words to stop jumping.

The new gold medal now gives Armand Duplantis a big bang in the coffers. The Swede can count on a bonus check of a whopping 750,000 kroner from the International Association of Athletics Federations, IAAF, for winning a WC gold.

But there could have been even more in prize money if Duplantis managed to break a new world record in the pole vault as well. For a world record during a World Cup, a full 100,000 dollars is added in bonus, which means almost 1 million kroner more.
