Direction Arles in the south of France where the International Meetings of Photography continue until September 25th. This year, the festival highlights many women photographers: illustrious figures, young talents to be discovered or even forgotten artists. It is in this last category that we can classify Lee Miller, who died in 1977 and to whom one of the key exhibitions of this 53rd edition is devoted under the title ” Lee Miller, professional photographer “.
Lee Miller’s career was long underestimated. However, this famous portrait painter, at the head of her own studio in New York, was also a fashion and advertising photographer before becoming… a war photographer. But she was often reduced to her role as the muse of the artist Man Ray.
This exhibition takes place at Espace Van Gogh in Arles until September 25th.
