Arlanda was closed – planes are diverted

At least four drones of varying sizes are said to have been targeted. But neither the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority nor Swedavia know what kind of drone it is.

Several planes were rerouted

At two o’clock, a decision was made to close Arlanda and after that at least five planes have been allowed to land at airports other than Arlanda. Skavsta, outside Nyköping and Landvetter, outside Gothenburg.

Arlanda opens again

Now a decision has been made to open Arlanda again.

– At 03:37 I received information that Arlanda will reopen, says Cecilia Bengtsson, at the Swedish Civil Aviation Authority’s press service.

Defense aware of the incident

The Swedish Armed Forces say they are aware of the incident and are in contact with Arlanda.

– We are in contact to get a picture of the situation, but we are not on site, says Mikael Ågren, at the Swedish Armed Forces.
