President of Naughty Dog and The Last of Us Neil Druckmann, the director of the series, said that he did not plan in advance for the sequel games while developing games. According to him, thinking of a sequel means “to be unlucky”.
The future of The Last of Us series
Neil Druckmann stressed that they are only focusing on the game they are working on in a game development process. Druckmann said, “What if I don’t have a chance to make a game in the future?” He said that he was acting with his thought and said he did not hide his existing ideas to use in the future. However, while working on The Last of Us Part 2, he also admitted that new ideas came to mind from time to time.
This approach makes Druckmann’s effort to “avoid repetitions”. If he starts working on a sequel, he said that he prefers to examine the unresolved elements in the stories of the characters. “If they can’t go anywhere ‘, then I think of killing them,” Druckmann made a joke.
There is no clear information about the future of The Last of US series. Druckmann did not give any clues as to whether a new game will be added to the series. However, in his previous statements, he implied that the story could contain “another episode”.
Naughty Dog is currently working on an entirely new project, Intergalactic: The Hertic Prophet. This will be the first game of the studio in the science fiction genre. Whether the The Last of US series will continue is a great curiosity in the game world.
