Are you tired of scrolling through endless chats to find a particular message in WhatsApp? Good news, a long-awaited feature solves the problem and it is finally available for everyone!
If you’ve been using WhatsApp regularly for a while, you’ve probably accumulated hundreds, if not thousands, of messages in chats with your loved ones. Especially when there are talkative people in groups… And if you want to find important information that you were told a few days earlier, you quickly realize that, in the meantime, a lot of things have been said. .. However, if it is possible to quickly find old exchanges thanks to the search function when you remember a few key words, it is completely different when you no longer remember any terms or when you useful a very common word that often comes up in conversations. There is then no other solution than to manually scroll up the messages to go back in time and find the one that interests you. In short, it’s long and absolutely not practical!
Fortunately, Meta recently solved the problem with a very nifty feature: the calendar button. In the works for several months and eagerly awaited, it allows you to search for messages from a specific date, whether in group or individual discussions. Practical, provided you have a good memory! The function was announced by Mark Zuckerberg himself on his official channel.
To use it, you need to go to the search options, tapping the three little dots at the top right of the screen, then selecting “Search”. As usual, a search bar appears, where you can enter your keywords, as well as two arrows, which allow you to scroll through the messages. Now a small calendar icon also appears next to it. When you press it, a normal-sized calendar opens, and all you have to do is select the date the message you are interested in is sent. Like Google’s Calendar app, you can scroll through the months or select a particular year if you’re looking for an old one.
This new feature is very practical because it not only saves time, but also reduces the frustration of scrolling through long conversation histories. In addition, it is particularly useful when it comes to finding non-text messages, such as voice notes – which can be complicated to find since they are not transcribed into text – or photos, or when you are unable to remember the exact wording of a text message.
This function has already been available for iPhone users since January 2023. However, until now it was not available in WhatsApp Web or on Android devices. However, it had been in development in the beta versions of web messaging since last November already, and was spotted a month later in the Android beta versions. From now on, all media benefit from it. It was time !
