Are you tired of receiving calls for sales offers on your smartphone? These free apps will prevent marketers from bothering and harassing you.

Cold calling is a real scourge of modern times. And since you can be reached anywhere, all the time with your smartphone, the call centers of companies looking for new customers do not hesitate to contact you all the time. Hanging up on them or begging them to forget you is unfortunately not enough to stop the phenomenon. The Phone apps installed by default on smartphones, notably from Google and Samsung, do what they can to prevent you from being disturbed but they still have certain limitations and a number of unwanted calls manage to slip through the cracks. . However, several solutions exist to find some peace of mind.

To get started, the first instinct is to register on the Bloctel platform (free). Your number is therefore supposed to no longer be reachable for cold calling. This is a good start but unfortunately insufficient since many direct sellers manage to circumvent this measure. The best is therefore to act directly on the smartphone. For this, there are free apps, easy to use and very effective to install on your Android mobile or your iPhone.

Orange Telephone, available on iOS and Android and developed by the operator Orange, is responsible for sorting received calls. This free app detects spam and canvassing based on a regularly updated database. On Android, it replaces the default Phone app, which can be confusing. On iOS, you have to manually and regularly update your database stored on the device due to restrictions imposed by Apple. Orange Telephone also allows you to create a blacklist of unwanted numbers. But in this area, we prefer two other applications that are much more practical and relevant.

On Android, it’s the app Call filter which is most effective. In fact, since the beginning of the year, telephone canvassers must comply with legislation requiring them to use a list of predefined prefixes for the telephone numbers used to contact you. They must start with these four numbers: 0162, 0163, 0270, 0271, 0377, 0378, 0424, 0425, 0568, 0569, 0948, 0949. From there, the free Call Filter app allows you to create a blacklist including all these prefixes, regardless of the next six digits that make up the entire number. Please note that Call Filter does not replace the Phone app used by default on Android mobile.

On iOS, we recommend the free app Begone works on the same principle and allows you to block entire ranges of numbers starting with the codes mentioned above. Finally, Begone does not replace the iPhone’s Phone app either.

These three apps are already an excellent way to save yourself the loss of time caused by unwanted calls. Unfortunately, they also have their limits. The spoofing technique, which consists of spoofing a real telephone number to contact you, is starting to gain momentum. With spoofing, any scammer can contact you with a valid number and pretend to be one of your contacts (your bank advisor, your insurer, etc.). A technique that artificial intelligence could well overcome by answering for you and detecting the signs of a fraudulent call in the conversation. But for that, you will have to wait a little longer.
