For those with a digital mailbox, the declaration came from the Tax Agency between March 4 and 8, but for those who do not have it, the paper declaration is sent out these days.

This year, a record amount of money is paid out in tax refunds. Here you can read more about exactly how big the record refund will be in the 2024 declaration.

Between April 9 and 12, the first money is paid out to those who received a tax refund. But then you must have declared by April 3 without any changes, according to The Swedish Tax Agency’s website.

If, on the other hand, you plan to make deductions or other changes, you will have to wait until June before it rings on the account.

Declaration 2024: They review the Swedish Tax Agency

Before you declare, you should think about whether everything is really included that must be reported.

Every year, the Swedish Tax Agency selects one or more areas, which they examine extra carefully. This year it applies to private individuals who have rented out their home.

Rental income under SEK 40,000 is tax-free. If you have earned more than that from renting out your home, it must be declared and taxed at 30 percent.

The tax rules are not new, but on the other hand, it is new that sites such as Airbnb and Blocket have reporting obligations according to new EU directives, and will submit income information from the person who rented out to the Swedish Tax Agency.

If you rent, the details will appear on “My pages” from April onwards.

If you know that you have not declared the rental income, you can contact the Tax Agency afterwards.

If, on the other hand, you deliberately ignore taxes, you risk fines or, in the worst case, imprisonment.
