The last episode of the first season of House of the Dragon aired almost half a year ago. The fantasy series tells a prequel to Game of Thrones and takes place in the same world as the main series of Daenerys and Tyrion: Westeros. The spin-off continued the success of its predecessor. But new episodes were still a long way off. Season 2 took a big step on Tuesday: Production begins. What does that mean for the start of the new episodes?

When are the new episodes of House of the Dragon coming out?
So far, everything has pointed to a start of House of the Dragon Season 2 in summer/autumn 2024 there. The start of production seems quite early for this period. However, the shooting and production of a fantasy series like House of the Dragon is complex: a large cast, many special effects, sometimes different locations, complex post-production. The shortened number of episodes doesn’t change that.
So if you don’t want to be disappointed, you should still be prepared for a House of the Dragon season 2 start between July and October 2024, i.e. a two-year wait after the season finale.
