ARD reveals broadcast dates of The Dead of Marnow Season

The numbers are impressive: In 2021, the event series The Dead of Marnow aired on Das Erste and attracted an average of over 5 million viewers per episode in front of the screens. According to ARD, the four-part series with Petra Schmidt-Schaller and Sascha Gersak was viewed a further 14 million times in the ARD media library. The story of an apparently random series of murders and the involvement of powerful backers is now being continued, three years later. There are a few changes in terms of the cast and number of episodes.

This is what is known about the plot of the second season of The Dead of Marnow

The Season 2 is titled Heart of Darkness – The Dead of Marnow and the ARD has already published a synopsis:

Detective chief inspectors Lona Mendt (Petra Schmidt-Schaller) and Frank Elling (Sascha Gersak) are investigating a complicated murder case that leads them into a web of dark secrets. At the centre of their investigation is 12-year-old Sarah (Greta Kasalo), a Bulgarian orphan girl. But two weeks after the investigation began, Lona and Elling are shot and left in a coma, while Sarah disappears without a trace. Special investigators Maja Kaminski (Sabrina Amali) and Hagen Dudek (Bernhard Conrad) take over the mysterious case. With deleted files and Dudek’s own hidden agenda, their search for the truth becomes a dangerous game […].

Grimme Prize winner Holger Karsten Schmidt once again wrote the screenplays, which have been filmed in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Lower Saxony since the end of last year.

More episodes for The Dead of Marnow Season 2: These are the broadcast dates

Season 1 consisted of four episodes, the sequel will be increased to six episodes. The Broadcast dates of Heart of Darkness – The Dead of Marnow According to DWDL, they look like this:

  • The first half of the six episodes will be broadcast on December 7th from 8:15 p.m.
  • The remaining episodes will be broadcast on December 11th from 8:15 p.m.
  • If you want to take a look beforehand, you can stream the episodes in the ARD media library from November 29th.

    Unfortunately, there is currently no way to watch the first season for free. It is streamed by Netflix, ARD Plus and MagentaTV.
