ARD presenter tattoos live on Twitch, chat fears a ban

ARD surprises its viewers on Twitch not only with watch parties, but also with unusual actions: Recently, presenter Malte tattooed the tattoo artist Steven during a livestream, while the chat feared a ban.

Since when has ARD been streaming on Twitch? It may surprise some, but the broadcaster ARD has been streaming on Twitch for a while now. They started in October 2022, and after a break until January 2023, they have been streaming regularly since then.

Most of the time they are in the Just Chatting format, with different formats. Games like Electrician Simulator or House Flipper 2 have also been played on their channel.

On average, they reached around 1,100 viewers in the last three months. Their most popular followers include LetsHugoTV, EintrachtSpandau, DoktorFroid and SkylineTVlive.

On June 17th they were live on Twitch again. This time there was a watch party for the football match between France and Austria. But the real highlight of the evening was not the game, but moderator Malte, who was able to give tattoo artist Steven a tattoo.

There are always crazy promotions on Twitch:

“I really want to tattoo someone today”

How did the tattoo campaign come about? During the football match, ARD presenter Malte said: “I really want to tattoo someone today because Antoine Griezmann is also tattooed. He’s kind of tattooed from head to toe. That’s why I said: ‘Hey, dear director, please get me someone.'”

At that moment, tattoo artist Steven from Bochum entered the room and offered himself as a practice subject. As Malte washed his hands in the toilet, he joked that he hoped he wouldn’t get banned on Twitch for this.

Why are these jokes not unfounded? After all, DrDisrespect was also banned in 2019 for doing an IRL stream from E3 and visiting the toilet several times while continuing to film.

Streamer Tanzverbot also received a ban in 2023 when he placed his phone on a sink in a public toilet during a stream. This resulted in a person being seen washing their hands on the stream, which led to a brief ban.

“Suddenly I get very nervous,” says the presenter

What was tattooed? When the score was 1-0 for France, Malte and Steven went about their mission of getting a tattoo. The motif and the location were decided: the word “Malte” with a stick figure underneath on the inside of the thigh.

How did the meeting go? At first, Steven joked when Malte was disinfecting him: “Now you can rub him again so that we both have fun” and later, “he should be gentle.” Malte had doubts for a moment and asked: “Oh guys, do we really want this? I’m suddenly getting really nervous.”

But he went through with it and made the first strokes. While Malte became more and more self-confident, the chat became nervous.

What was the chat afraid of? Numerous messages feared a ban.

  • Volcanoenthusiast wrote: “You’ll get banned on Twitch for that”
  • Stierkamp wrote: “But please no blood, otherwise ban”
  • Treppecologne wrote: “Yes, tattooing is actually banned, but let’s see, it’s the ARD”
  • The Twitch guidelines state: “We allow a variety of content on Twitch, but extreme violence or gore may be disturbing or upsetting, especially if it involves death, mutilation or blood is visible“.

The cameraman responded quickly to the fears

How did they resolve the situation? While Malte was discussing possible penalties while getting a tattoo, the cameraman reacted quickly to the situation. He filmed from further away and showed more of Steven and Malte’s faces. At the end, however, there was a close-up of the tattoo.

The cameraman probably saved the situation because nothing could be seen. So ARD can continue streaming on Twitch.

In spring 2023, Twitch banned streamer Real_Bazzi, also known as Bazzi, forever. But a year and a half later, he has surprisingly returned thanks to legal support.
