The arbovirus are arthropod-borne viruses, i.e. viruses carried by arthropods which can transmit them by bite to other animals.
Arboviruses and arboviruses: transmission via the mosquito
For example, the mosquito can transmit arboviruses: it is charged by virus by biting an infected animal, the viruses develop in its digestive tract, join the salivary glandsthen thebug transmits them to another animal by biting it.
Arboviruses, diseases caused by arboviruses, are often found in tropical areas, but they are moving due to movements of population and climate change.
With the coming of summer, come somewhat undesirable visitors, these are the mosquitoes. Sometimes carrying viruses, they can infect entire populations and spread epidemics. Arboviruses: dengue fever, Zika, chikungunya
Arboviruses belong to different families of viruses such as Flaviviridae or Togaviridae. Among the arboviruses are:
- the yellow fever virus ;
- the virus West Nile (west nile virus);
- the virus of dengue fever ;
- the virus of chikungunya ;
- Zika virus.
In general, to prevent these arboviruses, it is necessary to avoid being bitten and to act on the environment to limit mosquito populations.
