Approach to peak load has started, that’s how Utrecht farmers think about it

How the Utrecht parties think about nitrogen policy

Who, what and where?

The peak load approach is an approach aimed at around three thousand companies that cause the most nitrogen precipitation in Natura 2000 areas. Participation is voluntary. These are mostly agricultural companies and a few industrial companies. The protected nature areas in the province of Utrecht are Botshol near Vinkeveen and Binnenveld near Rhenen and Veenendaal.

The scheme will initially be open to the provinces of North Holland, Flevoland, South Holland, Zeeland and the western part of Utrecht. These are all municipalities in the province of Utrecht, except Veenendaal, Renswoude, Rhenen and Woudenberg. Registration is possible from June 12. Farmers in the other municipalities fall under Utrecht East and can register from 3 July.
