Sifan Hassan and Letsile Tebogo have been awarded as the best track and field athletes of the year
Dutch marathoner Sifan Hassan and a Botswanan sprinter Letsile Tebogo won the World Athletics World Athletics awards on Sunday as the best track and field athletes of this year.
Hassan won bronze in the women’s 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters and gold in the marathon at the Paris Olympic Games in the summer.
– I never thought I would win this. It was a crazy year, and all the athletes have been incredible, Hassan said in his acceptance speech at the event in Monaco.
Tebogo covered the American favorites in the men’s 200 meters Olympic final by Kenny Bednarek and by Noah Lyles. Tebogo became the first African 200m Olympic champion.
The Swedish stickman Armand Duplantis won the title of the best field athlete in men.
