The EU leaders have reached an agreement on the EU nomination package. German Ursula von der Leyen has been re-elected president of the EU Commission for a second term. The appointment still requires the approval of the European Parliament.

Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni abstained from voting for von der Leyen, but voted against the choices of Costa and Kallas. Prime Minister of Hungary Victor Orbán opposed von der Leyen’s election.
