Application for Koran burning outside the Iranian embassy

A new application to burn the Koran has been submitted to the police, reports SVT.
– I have nothing to say about the application, says Daniel Wikdahl, the police’s press spokesperson in the Stockholm region.

The new application is made by a 31-year-old man who wants to organize a gathering outside the Iranian embassy in Stockholm this Saturday.

In addition to a Koran, the man plans to set fire to a picture of Iran’s leader and two doll heads. The purpose of the burning is to protest the way Iran’s population is treated.

– I cannot accept that our people live in ignorance and superstition, the man says to SVT.

Iran’s leader raged against Sweden

If the application is approved, it will be one of several Koran burnings in Sweden recently, which has received a lot of attention in large parts of the world.

Iran’s supreme spiritual and political leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei lashed out at Sweden last week in a statement, saying Sweden has prepared for war against the Muslim world. In the statement, he also wrote that it is the Swedish government’s obligation to extradite the criminal who burned the Koran to the legal systems of Muslim countries.

In several countries, for example Saudi Arabia and Iran, Swedish ambassadors have been summoned. In Iraq, the Swedish embassy was stormed by hundreds of people who set it on fire.
