There are only hours left for Apple’s “Scary Fast” event, which will be held at 03:00 in the morning. It is thought that the event will focus on Mac. The fact that there is an Apple logo on Apple’s website that turns into a Mac Finder icon seems to confirm that what we will see tonight is Mac-related. But there are many rumors about what or what to expect at the event. Here’s what was gleaned from these rumors…
1- 14 INCH AND 16 INCH MACBOOK PRO
According to MacRumors, 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models were updated with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips in January 2023. However, since it is not unheard of for Apple to refresh a Mac twice in one year, it is thought that we may see 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models updated with the next generation M3 Pro and M3 Max chips at the “Scary Fast” event.
The base-level M3 Pro chip is said to have a 12-core CPU and 18-core GPU, and can be upgraded to a 14-core CPU and 20-core GPU. It is said that the base level M3 Max chip will have a 16-core GPU and a 32-core GPU and there will be an option to upgrade to a 40-core GPU.
The new MacBook Pros are expected to bring significant performance improvements, especially when it comes to the ability to run high-end games.
It was recently suggested that the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models would have more power-saving miniLED displays. Therefore, we can also see improvements in screen performance.
The move to the M3 and a new miniLED display could lead to significant improvements in battery life for MacBook Pro models. Apart from new chips and a possible new screen, no other design changes are expected for MacBook Pro models.
2- iMAC
Apple hasn’t renewed the 24-inch iMac since 2021. The newest iMac currently on sale uses the M1 chip. iMac is expected to be updated at Apple’s event. It is claimed that the M3 chip, which is said to be used in the 13-inch MacBook Pro, will be used in the new model.
The move from M1 to M3 is expected to increase both CPU and GPU performance, but the most important one is said to be GPU performance. Since the M3 chip supports more RAM, it is claimed that we may see more maximum memory as well as a higher capacity SSD with the update.
It is thought that there will be no significant design change on the iMac’s screen, but its stand will be changed. It is claimed that some of the iMac’s internal components will be relocated and redesigned, and a new manufacturing process will be used to attach the stand.
An upgrade to Wi-Fi 6E seems likely, as is Bluetooth 5.3. These technologies began to be used in other Macs last year. The M3 iMac is claimed to have been tested in orange, blue, pink and silver.
3- USB-C ACCESSORIES
Apple is expected to remove the Lightning port on some Mac accessories, including the Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad and Magic Keyboard. It is thought that these devices will use a USB-C port instead of Lightning, as part of Apple’s transition to USB-C across its entire product range.
4- OTHER POSSIBILITIES
According to the news, apart from the iMac and the renewed 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, there are no other rumors indicating that other devices will be updated.
Although there have been claims that the 13-inch MacBook Pro could be renewed with the M3 chip, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claimed that the 13-inch MacBook Pro will be renewed at a later date.
Other Mac models such as MacBook Air, Mac mini, Mac Pro and Mac Studio, iPads and AirPods are not expected to be updated until 2024. In other words, new iPads or new versions of AirPods are not expected until next year.
