Apple stopped putting the wired earphone model EarPods and the charging adapter in the box, starting with the iPhone 12 in 2020. Both products were also removed from the box of the old iPhone models that were still sold. Thus, the company took an important step to reduce its environmental footprint. In addition, with the removal of the products, the iPhone cases were made thinner. However, Apple’s decision did not apply to France. Because according to French law, Apple was required to put the EarPods in the box. Thanks to this law, users who bought an iPhone in France continued to have an EarPods headset with the iPhone. But now everything is about to change.
THINGS CHANGED FOR APPLE IN FRANCE
According to a notice published by French Fnac, smartphone manufacturers in France will no longer have to put headphones in the box. Thus, this obligation will disappear for Apple. Sources abroad, referring to the notification, also say that Apple will stop putting EarPods in iPhone boxes in France from January 24.
