Apple: should we wait for the arrival of a 27-inch mini-LED monitor in June?

Apple should we wait for the arrival of a 27 inch

Apple has just launched its new 27-inch 5K Studio Display monitor, equipped with an LCD panel, but what will be its next model? According to Ross Young, specialist in the production chain for Display Supply Chain (DSCC), it would be a 27-inch monitor with mini-LED technology, which could be called Studio Display Pro.

According to Ross Young, the production of the mini-LED tiles would have started and the Studio Diplay Pro would be launched in June. However, Young indicates that Apple’s plans are difficult to determine in terms of its sources of information. Indeed, a monitor such as the Studio Display includes a webcam, which makes it more difficult to distinguish it from an iMac in the supply chain.

Ross Young’s assertion of the arrival of a mini-LED monitor is, however, contradicted by the famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who believes for his part that there will be no mini-LED products this year.

Ming-Chi Kuo explains that cost issues would be the cause of the delay in the release of mini-LED products. Apple would also have considered using this technology in its iPad Pro and MacBook Pro, but has so far not followed up.

Remember that the mini-LED technology uses diodes of a smaller size, which allows you to put a lot more to constitute the backlight of the screen. Thus, the screens are brighter and offer deeper blacks, close to the rendering of OLED screens.

Currently, Apple has two monitors in its catalog: the new Studio Display (27 inches, 5K, 600 nits) from 1749 euros and the Pro Display XDR (32 inches, 6K, 1600 nits) from 5499 euros.
