The Apple group announced Monday, February 24, wanting to invest more than $ 500 billion in the United States for the next four years and promised 20,000 hires, when Donald Trump pushes the country’s businesses to repatriate their production on American soil.
“Apple has announced its largest expense commitment today, with plans to spend and invest more than $ 500 billion in the United States over the next four years,” the Californian giant said in a statement.
The Cupertino group specifies wanting to finance projects in the fields of artificial intelligence, engineering or even training.
New factory in Houston
It also plans to increase the capacities of its existing American production sites as well as the construction by 2026 of a new factory in Houston, in the state of Texas, to produce servers that were so far made “Outside the United States,” said the press release, adding that this new site will “create thousands of jobs”. In total, all of these projects should make it possible to hire 20,000 additional employees over the next four years, says Apple.
This announcement comes after announcements by American president Donald Trump, aimed at imposing new customs duties on a wide range of foreign and more particularly Chinese products, ranging from semiconductors to cars, including pharmaceutical products. This is to-among others-to encourage American companies to relocate their production to the United States.
