For nine months, team members with Apple Map buggies and LiDAR backpacks have been touring the UK to update the public map, navigation directions and Look Around street view. Apple Maps teams undertook a similar UK tour less than a year ago in March 2023, and were reportedly focusing on London, Birmingham and Manchester. The new tour schedule looks more widespread, with Apple listing dates to visit all parts of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Apple Maps brings new updates
The new program started with Greater London on 10 February 2024. It was then rolled out to a further six English counties on 19 February, with the whole of England planned to be completed by 17 October. Wales is being re-examined from 17 April to 21 May, Northern Ireland from 1 June to 4 July, and Scotland from 8 June to 10 July. Apple Maps update is not available for Channel Islands, Isle of.
