Apple is celebrating the tenth anniversary of its smartwatch. However, there is no question of revolutionizing the concept. The Apple Watch is once again evolving smoothly, with some welcome features, including sleep apnea detection.

The Apple Watch Series 10 opened the ball at Apple’s back-to-school keynote. It’s almost a habit for Tim Cook since the appearance of the queen of smartwatches ten years ago. The opportunity for the firm to celebrate an anniversary in style? Put away the champagne and party favors. The Apple Watch benefits from an update and a refresh, as it does every year, but not enough to mark a radical turning point in its history. Nevertheless, Apple’s smartwatch is adorned with a new dress and a new screen that do not distort a design that is identifiable at first glance.

Apple Watch Series 10: a bigger screen than an Apple Watch Ultra

On a smartwatch, the screen is the first thing you look at. And on this point, Apple has seen things on a grand scale. The Apple Watch Series 10 is adorned with a very large screen. Even larger than that of the Apple Watch Ultra 2. We also benefit from a new Oled panel called Wide Angle Oled (wide angle) which according to the firm allows for perfect readability regardless of the angle from which we look at it. In terms of brightness, we climb to 2000 nits (as on the Apple Watch Ultra 2) with a minimum of 1 nit for the night.

While the Apple Watch Series 10 has a larger screen, it is thinner than its predecessors. It has a wasp waist of 9.6 mm, almost a millimeter less than the Series 9. In addition, Apple is saying goodbye to steel. The new Series 10 is available in aluminum with a very elegant glossy black finish, but also in a titanium case.

Apple Watch Series 10: still geared towards health and sport

Under the screen, the Apple Watch Series 10 features the new in-house S10 processor. It has four neural cores to give Siri more power and manage other parameters. It is also used to detect sleep apnea (as on Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 7, which is still waiting for approval from health authorities in France to be activated).

On the sports side, snorkeling fans will be delighted to learn that the activity is supported by the watch with information such as water temperature, wave intensity and depth sensor.

Apple Watch Ultra: just a slight refresh

Last year, Apple introduced the Apple Watch Ultra 2. A meager update of the first Apple Watch Ultra. This year, the new features are even lighter. The Apple Watch Ultra 2 remains in place. It is simply adorned with a new dress, still in titanium, but black, accompanied by matching bracelets.
