While the majority of the technology industry talked about artificial intelligence models such as ChatGPT and what they did or will do for similar technologies, Apple, the manufacturer of iPhones, did not come to the fore in this regard. However, it looks like this may change soon.
COOK: “APPLE HAS BEEN WORKING ON PRODUCTIVE AI INFORMATION FOR YEARS”
Apple CEO Cook said in an interview with CNBC that Apple has been working on productive artificial intelligence and other models for years.
“We see AI and machine learning as core core technologies. And they’re embedded in nearly every product we manufacture,” said CEO Cook.
“On a research basis, we’ve been doing research on AI and machine learning for years, including generative AI,” Cook added.
In an interview with Reuters, Tim Cook said the increased R&D spending is partly due to work on productive artificial intelligence, the same field that drives the spending of other big tech companies:
“WE INVEST TOO MUCH”
“We have been researching a wide variety of AI technologies for years, including productive AI. We will continue to invest in these technologies, innovate and responsibly develop our products to help enrich people’s lives. Obviously, we invest a lot and that’s what you’re looking at. It is also seen in R&D expenditures.”
THERE WAS APPLE GPT ALLEGED
As we said before, there were allegations that Apple was quietly working on artificial intelligence tools that could challenge OpenAI, Google and other companies, and that some engineers produced a chatbot service that some engineers called “Apple GPT”.
Cook’s statements brought these allegations to the agenda again.
