Apple’s Scary Fast event was an unexpected but welcome surprise for Mac fans this season. In true Halloween slasher movie style, Apple has officially ended the life of one of its most controversial laptops. This computer became the 13-inch MacBook Pro. For years, this model was an absolute star with its Pro-level features and impressive build quality. As Apple updates and releases new laptops, the 13-inch MacBook Pro starts to look less attractive. This was especially the case when Apple’s own chips made their way into the Mac. At this point, Apple’s move to discontinue the 13-inch MacBook Pro did not come as much of a surprise.
13 inch MacBook Pro is now history
The laptop went through a rough patch in 2016 with the introduction of the Touch Bar, which came as part of a major redesign. The new look also included a slimmer chassis, changes to the keyboard, a larger trackpad, Touch ID, and the removal of all ports except the Thunderbolt ports and headphone jack. The Touch Bar was a hit or miss product with the masses. While some people liked the innovation and the Touch Bar, others found it bulky and not very useful.
In 2023, the 13-inch MacBook Pro is a good laptop, but it is no longer worth the investment. The base model comes with Apple’s M2 chip, which provides a small boost. It has an 8-core CPU, a 10-core GPU. It comes with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage as standard. Both of these can be increased for an additional fee. While it still performs well enough for daily tasks and light work, it’s no longer adequate for a Pro laptop.
