Apple continues its price increases by discreetly but significantly increasing

Apple continues its price increases by discreetly but significantly increasing the prices of its flagship services Apple Music, Apple TV+ and Apple One. iCloud+, Apple Arcade and Apple Fitness+ are spared… for now!

Apple keeps raising its prices! Already in September, the prices of the iPhone 14 had made the regulars jump, the starting price exceeding, for the first time, the symbolic bar of 1,000 euros. Then come the two new iPad Pro, also at exorbitant prices, while the Apple firm decides to add more advertising in the App Store. And the Cupertino company obviously does not intend to stop there since it has – discreetly – increased the prices of some of its services in most countries, including France. A first since 2015! This affects certain Apple Music, Apple TV+ and Apple One subscriptions. “Good” news, cloud storage, the Apple Arcade game platform and the Apple Fitness+ physical activity service are not affected, at least for the moment.

Apple services: a significant price increase

The first service affected by this lightning increase is Apple Music, the firm’s music streaming service which provides access to a catalog of 90 million songs. Only certain packages are concerned. Thus, the Voice subscriptions – which allows you to take advantage of the platform only via Siri – and Student remain respectively at €4.99 and €5.99 per month – although Apple has already increased the latter by one euro in the month of June. On the other hand, the Individual plan goes from €9.99 to €10.99 per month – an increase of €1 – and the Family subscription from €14.99 to €16.99 per month – an increase of 2 €. For comparison, Spotify, Tidal and YouTube Music offer a plan at €4.99, and Deezer at €5.99. Apple justifies this increase by an increase in licensing costs which is not their fault, and promises that this will allow them to pay more to songwriters whose songs are distributed on their platform.

On the side of Apple TV +, the subscription undergoes an increase of 2 €, going from 4.99 € to 6.99 € per month. Again, the firm justifies this price adjustment: “We launched Apple TV+ at a very low price, because we started with only a few series and films. Three years later, Apple TV+ offers a wide selection of award-winning and acclaimed programs. “The package is now higher than the Netflix subscription with advertising, but it is still a far cry from the prices charged by other service giants like Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime – whose last increase had somewhat raised their teeth. users.

Finally, the Apple One bundle – includes Apple TV+, Apple Music, Apple Arcade and Apple Fitness+ – is also on the rise. The Individual subscription increases from €14.99 to €16.95 per month – an increase of €2 –, the Family increases from €19.95 to €22.95 per month – an increase of €3 – and the Premium from €29.95 to €31.95 per month – an increase of €3. Casually, over an entire year, that’s a hell of a lot. The other Apple services do not change in price. Apple Arcade remains at €4.99 per month, Apple Fitness+ at €9.99, and iCloud keeps the same offers. The different trial periods – one month for Apple Music and Apple One, seven days for Apple TV+ – are maintained. These new prices were applied from Monday evening October 24 for all future subscribers. Those who are already registered will experience the increase from their next bill.
