Artificial intelligence is the industry buzzword these days, and while Apple is tight-lipped on the subject, CEO Tim Cook promises it will be an integral part of its products. Apple held its quarterly earnings call Thursday evening, where reporters had a chance to ask CEO Tim Cook and CFO Luca Maestri questions about earnings and the company. While most resulted in negligible responses, some responses offered insight into where things could go. A few questions led the call to AI and Apple investing in AI. Apple’s leadership has been clear about the company’s stance on artificial intelligence. It wasn’t just being developed, it was already part of everything.
Tim Cook: Artificial intelligence is part of our products
Tim Cook said, “If you zoom out and look at what we do with AI and machine learning and how we use it, we see AI and machine learning as core technologies and they are an integral part of almost every product we offer.” When we recently released iOS 17, it had features like personal voice and live voicemail. Artificial intelligence is at the center of these features.” said. Later in the interview, Cook was asked about the nearly $8 billion increase in R&D spending and where that money was going. Tim’s answer was simple. In addition, there were products such as artificial intelligence, silicon and Apple Vision Pro.
These comments align with what Cook and company have said about artificial intelligence in the past. Many features in iOS already rely on machine learning and even artificial intelligence, such as the new transformer language model for autocorrection.
