Epic Games announced that its developer account was canceled by Apple. There will be a problem with the Epic Games Store for iOS users in Europe.
Epic Gamesannounced that Apple has canceled their developer account once again. The company announced this situation on Twitter, which significantly affected Epic Games’ plans to bring Fortnite on iPhone and Epic Games Store to iOS devices in Europe. The company describes this situation as “a serious violation of the Digital Markets Act (DMA)” and claims that Apple prevents real competition on the iOS platform with this action.
DMA Violation Discussion Between Apple and Epic Games
According to Epic Games’ claims, this move by Apple is aimed at eliminating one of the App Store’s biggest potential competitors. The company is preparing to offer the Epic Games Store to iPhone users in the European Union, in light of the new Digital Markets Act (DMA) that will come into force this week. Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, said that the developer account was canceled because they criticized Apple’s DMA compliance plan.
Apple has terminated our developer account and now we cannot develop the Epic Games Store for iOS.
This is a serious violation of the EU’s Digital Markets Act. We will continue to fight to get back on iOS!https://t.co/BmqFxG26ul

This dispute between Epic Games and Apple once again brought to light the tension between Apple’s policies and Epic Games’ criticism of these policies. Epic claims that Apple rejected its offer of DMA consultation, which demonstrates Apple’s reluctance to allow alternative app stores on iOS devices. Apple, on the other hand, states that Epic Games broke agreements and carried out these actions for financial gain.
