Elon Musk’s company, SpaceX, stepped in to help the country get back online after a massive volcanic eruption and tsunami cut the submarine internet cables to Tonga.

ELON MUSK’S COMPANY BRINGS TONGA TO THE WORLD AGAIN

It has been reported that a team from SpaceX’s Starlink project, which aims to provide satellite-to-earth internet service, is working on the process of providing internet to Tonga again.

“A SpaceX team is now building a Starlink gateway station in Fiji to reconnect Tonga to the world,” Fiji’s attorney general Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said on his Twitter account, stating that the volcano’s shock wave shattered Tonga’s internet connection.

According to reports, SpaceX engineers will operate a ground station in Fiji for six months.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk mentioned in a previous tweet that Starlink satellites can help restore the connection that was cut as a result of a volcanic eruption.

SpaceX has more than 1,800 Starlink satellites in orbit.
