Anxious ahead of nationalist march in Jerusalem

A nationalist march is planned to be held in Jerusalem on Sunday. Early in the morning, unrest broke out in Jerusalem’s old city, when an ultranationalist politician, Itamar Ben-Gvir, and his supporters arrived on the scene.

A group of Palestinians are said to have thrown stones and fireworks at Israeli police.

Approximately 3,000 Israeli police have been deployed to guard the march, which will mark Israel’s conquest of Jerusalem during the Six-Day War in 1967. The march is planned to pass through the Muslim quarters of the area and is seen by Palestinians as a provocation.
