Antti Suomela rocked a hat trick during his rest week

29-year-old Antti Suomela scored a hat trick in the Swiss net on Thursday at the Tampere EHT tournament.

The Finnish men’s national ice hockey team started the Tampere EHT tournament with a convincing victory, when they defeated Switzerland with 4–0 goals.

Finland got success for its top chains, because the center of the first chain Antti Suomela was allowed to finish his third goal into an empty net in the final moments of the match.

– Although the numbers 4–0 are not tighter, this was a tight game. There wasn’t even a break and there were few places on both sides. However, we were effective in our positions, Suomela summarized to Urheilu.

The hat trick warmed Suomela’s mind.

– There will not be too many hat tricks or goals in general. It feels nice. This is good to continue towards the weekend.

“I was lucky”

Suomela scored no less than 37 goals in 51 matches in the second season in the Swedish SHL. Now the pace in Switzerland has been quieter, and there have been no successes with superiority, for example.

Six goals and nine assists in 21 games is not a bad balance in Europe’s toughest league.

– I haven’t necessarily entered, but I’ve still got places.

– I would be more worried if I couldn’t get to the places. I’ve been feeling confident all season. Today I was lucky when I got a few places and got a goal from them.

The week doesn’t feel heavy

Suomela answers questions cheerfully and cheerfully. He also describes playing in Leijon as a rest week.

– This is a rest week in the sense that there are no club games. This doesn’t feel heavy, even though the games are hard.

Suomela justifies the issue with, among other things, the atmosphere of the Lions. Feeling calm.

– At least there’s not too much stress here. Goes to the field, does his best and gives the best displays to the table. That is all that is required.

Championship in mind

The gates have not opened in the NHL, but the Suomela has made a strong impression in Europe. Suomela’s personal achievements include, among other things, winning the points exchange in the SM league and the title of the most valuable player in the Swedish premier league.

One thing is missing. Championship. And that’s exactly what the 29-year-old center still wants to achieve in his career.

– I want to win. It is a matter for me that I would be able to succeed with the club team. Winning is difficult, but I would personally like to experience it.

The Lions’ tournament continues on Saturday against the Czech Republic. The match starts at 17:00.
