Antitrust, green claims eliminated on the xevcars.it and microlino-car.com websites

Ambienta Antitrust does not start investigations into the acquisition of

(Finance) – The Competition and Market Guarantor Authority concluded a positive moral suasion towards companies Campello. and Microlino Italia which have removed profiles of possible incorrectness on environmental assertions and boasts – the so-called green claims – used in the sale of electric vehicles for urban mobility XEV YOYO and Microlino.

The Authority itself communicates this in a note explaining that, in particular, on the websites www.xevcars.it and www.microlino-car.com there were green claims – relating to the absence of emissions or impact on the environment or the total environmental sustainability of these vehicles – completely absolute and generic (e.g. “100% sustainable”, “100% Green”, “Zero emissions”, “Zero impact on the environment”, “ECO”). Furthermore, it was not indicated which aspect and/or phase of the product life cycle they referred to (e.g. production of the vehicle and batteries, distribution, use, disposal of the vehicle and batteries), considering that eitherIt is necessary to take into account, among other things, the emissions linked to the mix of electricity normally necessary for recharging batteries and the use of cars.

The companies, following the Authority’s activity, removed the profiles of possible incorrectness in the messages used to advertise the XEV YOYO and Microlino cars.
